John Quigley - Ard Rua Studio
John's work can be seen at Ard Rua Studio (Gaelic for Red Height) located
in the picturesque village of Carrowmena, on the east coast of the Inishowen Peninsula, County Donegal, Ireland.
John draws much inspiration from Irish mythology, Irish
Celtic manuscript decoration, stained glass, landscape and wildlife which
he fuses together to create his art.
His bold use of colour and line brought him to the attention
of renowned Irish artist Jim Fitzpatrick who John collaborated with for a
decade to produce a body of work that has adorned Greeting Cards, Calendars,
Prints, Place Mats and Album Covers.
John's portfolio includes commissioned artwork for companies such as:
Donegal Parian China, Riverdance, Paramount Studios, Waltons Music, Swordpoint
Intercontinental Ltd.
His work is in Private collections throughout the world
which include pieces owned by Nobel prize winning Irish poet Seamus Heaney,
Hollywood actress Roma Downey, United States Senator Edward Kennedy and Philomena
Lynott.
In 2002 John set up Ard Rua Studio where his paintings and various other
publications can be viewed.
